Reikan

Meaning of Japanese 霊感 “reikan”

  • ability to sense the supernatural; a sixth sense; inspiration.

  • Meaning of Old Icelandic ᚱᛁᛁᚴᛅᚾ "reikan"

  • to wander, roam, or ramble.

As a child, I would wander the wilderness near my house, find the most magical spots, and build forts out of whatever materials I could find: scrap wood from abandoned barns, dead fallen trees, sticks, stones, and bits of rope. while creating these shelters I would daydream of myself as an adult: A musician-sculptor-archeologist living out my life in my hand-built compound hidden away in the woods.

while I never got that archeology degree, and music has become a mere hobby, I have hung on to the love of sculpture and my penchant for fort building.

Always thinking outside the box, creating spaces that evoke that sense of wonder is my passion.
